TOPEKA - Representative Raj Goyle of Wichita was recognized today by House Democratic Leader Dennis McKinney for achieving a perfect attendance record during the 2007 legislative session. "As a freshman legislator, Rep. Goyle has already shown an ability to reach across party lines to build bipartisan support on important issues," said House Minority Leader Dennis McKinney. "This year, he led a bipartisan effort to help protect families of fallen military soldiers by prohibiting picketers from protesting during and around Rep. Goyle is a member of the House Veterans, Military and Homeland Security; Taxation; and Judiciary Committees. "In a citizen legislature like ours in Kansas, legislators have families, jobs and other obligations in addition to their legislative work. The attendance records of these legislators is a testament to their commitment to the citizens they represent in Wichita," Rep. McKinney said. The legislature met for 91 days during the 2007 session. In total, the House cast 487 recorded votes in 2007. Lawmakers considered 967 pieces of legislation and signed 199 into law. |
